📚 Welcome to Our School Library!

Hello and welcome! My name is Maria Tristan, and I’m proud to serve as the Campus Librarian here at Dr. Palmira Mendiola Elementary. The library is the heart of our school — a place where curiosity, creativity, and a love of reading come alive!

As your librarian, my goal is to help every student become a confident reader, critical thinker, and lifelong learner. The library is more than just a place for books — it’s a space for discovery, imagination, and growth.

Here’s how I support our students and teachers every day:

  • 📖 Promoting Reading and Literacy: I help students find “just-right” books that match their reading levels and interests, share exciting book recommendations, and organize reading programs to make reading fun!
  • 💡 Teaching Research and Information Skills: I guide students in how to locate, evaluate, and use information responsibly — both in books and online.
  • 💻 Supporting Digital Citizenship: I teach students how to use technology safely, respectfully, and effectively.
  • 🧠 Encouraging Critical Thinking: I help students learn how to ask questions, think deeply, and make connections between what they read and the world around them.
  • 🤝 Collaborating with Teachers: I work with teachers to support classroom learning, provide resources, and design engaging research and literacy projects.
  • 🎨 Hosting Fun Library Activities: From book fairs and reading challenges to makerspace projects and story times, there’s always something exciting happening in the library!
  • 🌍 Creating a Welcoming Space: I strive to make the library a warm and inclusive environment where every student feels valued and inspired to learn.
